On a green theme
With the environment, reducing carbon footprint and eco ethics
the topic of 2007 for everyone this year,HSW Print felt that
the time was right to outline its environmental policies.
David Hackman said: “As a company we obviously take
environmental considerations very seriously,and we are always
looking at ways to improve in this area.
“In addition to the obvious measures we can take as
a printing firm we are also constantly looking at other initiatives
to take forward our environmental policy.”
The company is in the process of putting together an Environmental
working party which will look at implementing and managing
both legislative and best practice environmental guidelines
for HSW Print.
A consultant has been employed to audit current practices
and devise a strategy for improvement.It will then be the
responsibility of the working party to deliver the strategy.
David added,“The group will take sole responsibility
for championing the environmental message across the company
andensuring compliance.The policies will be introduced across
functional boundaries and encompass the whole business.”
Investment in new machinery has ensured that the printing
presses are built to the most modern specifications,making
them more environmentally efficient in terms of power consumption
and emissions compared to older printing equipment.
As always our commitment to properly recycle waste paper
and product is strong.Waste paper is collected via the venting
system, and is collected by a waste management company weekly.All
the companies we use for waste management have the correct
environmental accreditations.
Responding to customer needs
We appreciate that our customers are as eager to protect the
environment as us which is why we are very happy to advise
on how to make print jobs as green as possible.
Myths abound about the quality and cost of recycled paper.At
HSW Print we are happy to help you make the right choices
for each job.Recycled products are not going to be suitable
for every type of print job,however we can advise you and
help to ensure that you find the best solution,both environmentally
and in terms of the quality of the finished product.
